The DS1742W-120 is a low-power, 256k nonvolatile static RAM (NVSRAM) with a real-time clock (RTC) that combines 262,144 bits of SRAM with a nonvolatile element in a 28-pin DIP package. It provides a clock that tracks seconds, minutes, hours, days, date, months, and years. The DS1742W-120 features a lithium energy source that will keep the RTC running for over 10 years while the SRAM is operating under typical conditions. The device also includes a software controlled, power-on-reset circuit, automatic power-fail deselect, an alarm interrupt, a watchdog timer, and a unique 32-bit ID. In addition, the DS1742W-120 operates in the same manner as an ordinary static RAM, allowing unlimited read and write cycles to the memory. It eliminates the need for an external battery and supervisory circuits, making it an ideal solution for applications such as industrial automation, networking, data logging, and various other battery-backed memory applications.
