Description


The BQ24040DSQR gadget is a highly integrated Li-Ion and Li-Pol linear charger designed for portable applications with minimal space. The gadgets can be powered by an AC adaptor or a USB port. Low-cost unregulated adapters are supported by the high input voltage range with input overvoltage protection.

The battery is charged by a single power output of the BQ24040DSQR. As long as the average system load does not prevent the battery from charging fully during the 10-hour safety timer, a system load may be connected in parallel with the battery.

Conditioning, constant current, and constant voltage are the three phases of the battery charge. An internal control loop tracks the temperature of the IC junction throughout all charge phases and lowers the charge current if an internal temperature threshold is reached.

The charge current detection and charger power stage operations are completely integrated. The charger function includes charge termination, charge status display, and high accuracy current and voltage regulating loops. On the BQ24040DSQR, an external resistor is used to program the pre-charge current and termination current threshold. An external resistor can be used to program the quick charge current value.
